Case Study 1 – Achiltibuie
A recently completed house in Achiltibuie , this house has been finished to a high standard by local joiner Neil Mackenzie. The design has Siberian larch cladding and large south facing windows offering a fantastic view out over the atlantic. A log burning stove and high quality oak finishes throughout give this house a real luxury feel. Solar panels have beend used to provide hot water to property.
Case Study 2 – Torridon
A recently designed house in the beautiful and rugged Torridon area, this house design mimcs a traditional house that has been sympathetically extended over the years. Traditional features such as chimneys and narrow dormer windows mean this house will nestle amongst the local highland architecture.
Case Study 3 – Boat of Garten
Set in the cairgorm national park, this house is a replacment for the Dorran construction house on this lovely mature plot which overlooks cairngorm.
The foundations and underbuilding of the existing house will be reused for the new house and a double skin breathable timber frame packed with natural insulation will keep this house very warm. The large expanse will on the south elevation will give a large amount of solar gain meaning the heating will rarely be used. The external timber finish chosen is Accoya from local firm Russwood, when this timber is finished with an opaque paint it should last around 12 years.
